Abstract
When teaching friends how to take better photos, I have often encouraged them to look for repeating patterns and to zoom in to a scene. Do not forget to play around with shutter speeds. With these simple suggestions, it often opens up a world of new photographic possibilities for them. Here is a collection of some of my own examples.
Fluid Grace
In medical school in Puerto Rico, instead of studying, I was often busy setting up photo exhibitions at the local mall, “Plaza del Caribe”. One day the manager of the mall called me and with great embarrassment told me that this photo was stolen off the walls (how did they get past the lasers?!). Expecting anger, the manager was dumbfounded at my elation- someone would actually break the law to own one of my prints?! To this day the highest compliment anyone has ever paid me…

Playa Dreams
I was fortunate enough to go to Burning Man twice. Burning Man is an event held annually in the Black Rock Desert of northwest Nevada. The late summer event is an experiment in community and art, based on ten main principles: radical inclusion, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, gifting, decommodification, participation, immediacy, and leave no trace.

Part of a series of photos taken of fisherman; these are some of the most impressive and dramatic cloud formations I have ever seen.
